Valued at PLN 10 million (EUR 2.3 million, USD 2.5 million) and funded by government tourism development funds, the structure in the city’s Sobieski Park is set to become a new landmark visible from afar.

The official opening of the structure, which has sparked much excitement and is colloquially referred to by residents as the "Polish Eiffel Tower," is scheduled for Friday, June 21.

On opening day, entry will be free of charge; thereafter, climbing to the top of the multi-story, hexagonal building with six observation decks surrounded by tree canopies will cost PLN 10. Residents with a local community membership card will pay PLN 1 for admission.

The tower can accommodate about 630 people. At night, the frame of the structure will be illuminated in various colors. The panoramic view of the surrounding area can be enjoyed from the deck at approximately 35 meters high. Above this, a spire with a monitoring system will be installed. The structure will be closed at night.

The construction costs were covered by the Government Fund for Local Investments in Mountainous Municipalities.

Many people have voiced concerns about both the expenditure and the aesthetic value of the tower.

However, the city's mayor, Roman Szełemej, defends the project, arguing that even the original Eiffel Tower in Paris faced initial opposition. Over time, the iconic structure became one of the main symbols of the city.
